You know how it feels: every time you feel the need to change your life, to get out of your comfort zone or to experiment something different, your fears pop up. They will sabotage any new initiative if you don’t succeed in noticing their presence, in neutralizing & countering them. These fears or saboteurs are like inner voices that can take very different forms: the judge who will tell us that we’re not capable, the avoider who will tell us that we better don’t confront others with our divergent perspective, the controller who will tell us we need to master every single element of a task or situation to be able to succeed, etc. It’s critical to notice the presence of these fears & saboteurs, and to neutralize them: this could be done by being mindful & by connecting with our breathe or one of our senses. Once we‘re fully present in the moment, we can counter our fears and our stress with a serene & sage perspective that will enable us to dare to do what’s right: f. ex. we think about what’s possible when we overcome our fears; we think about the need to break through some old patterns that are preventing us to live a fully lived life; we trust that if we fail, it will generate great learnings & subsequent break-through achievements. #fears #confidence On a personal note, you can’t imagine my fear to decide to move from a corporate Chief People Officer role that enabled me to leverage my previous experiences & to enjoy leading teams I truly care about, to an entrepreneurial role of Leadership Coach that initially required me to develop a series of additional skills & to let go my interactions with my team members & colleagues that provided me the daily energy I needed to thrive. The same fear popped up after I’ve made that radical decision, at moments where it was really hard to fail over & over again in order to acquire some of the skills as I needed to let go deeply rooted habits & at other moments where I felt so lonely, not being surrounded as I was in my previous job. And guess what, more than a year later, I am sincerely happy that I dared to jump of the cliff & make that decision to go for a job that fits so well with my purpose to be a companion of leaders & teams towards more humanity, happiness & achievement of stuff that matters most; a job that allows me to be fully free & to gain even more access to my intuition & creativity; a job that enables me to lead diverse teams in a more profound way while being external to company; a job I want to do for the next 20 years.
